Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2025 is a vintage-dated, limited edition bourbon crafted to honor the September 2 birthday of Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown. Released annually and eagerly awaited by enthusiasts, the 2025 edition is especially notable for a rare departure in production (the use of a sweet mash fermentation instead of the traditional setback method) resulting in a softer, more expressive profile. Distilled on April 5, 2013, and aged for 12 years in Warehouse K (floors 1 and 5), this vintage-dated bourbon was crafted from 210 barrels.
For the first time, Old Forester employed a sweet mash fermentation process, using only freshly propagated yeast rather than the traditional “setback” method. Bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV), this edition delivers a refined yet distinctive flavor profile.

The 2025 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon remains highly collectible and hard to acquire. Old Forester introduced a national sweepstakes for purchase opportunities, with bottled allocation also reaching select retailers in limited quantities. Each bottle reflects both the brand’s historic distilling heritage and its ongoing innovation within one of American whiskey’s most storied annual releases.
